Study, Work & Live in Australia!

You may already be aware that recent changes resulting from the Knight Review permitted international students to extend the amount of time they could remain in Australia for work purposes if they had undertaken degrees (or higher qualifications) at universities.

The Australian Minister for Immigration, Mr Chris Bowen announced last week that the government had had a change of heart and extended the ‘post study work option’ to international students who were undertaking degrees with “other providers”.

Mr Bowen said “We are pleased to be extending post-study work arrangements to Bachelor or higher degree graduates from other education providers accredited to offer degree level programs, in addition to university graduates.”

“Graduates who complete their degrees after at least two academic years’ study in Australia will be able to access post-study work arrangements from 2013, in time for students who are applying for their Student Visas now.”
