We would like to highlight for your attention the news release issued by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC). Minister Kenney issues instructions on faster processing of federal skilled workers(6-12 months).

Under changes to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, federal skilled worker applications are assessed for eligibility according to the eligibility criteria listed below.

These criteria affect applicants only if they applied on or after February 27, 2008. If they applied before February 27, 2008, their application will be processed according to the rules that were in effect at that time.

In order for their application to be eligible for processing, they must either:

- have an offer of arranged employment, OR

- be a foreign national living legally in Canada for one year as a temporary foreign worker or an international student, OR

- be a skilled worker who has at least one year of experience in one or more of the following occupations:

0213: Computer and Information Systems Managers
0311: Managers in Health Care
0631: Restaurant and Food Service Managers
0632: Accommodation Service Managers
0711: Construction Managers
1111: Financial Auditors and Accountants
2113: Geologists, Geochemists and Geophysicists
2143: Mining Engineers
2144: Geological Engineers
2145: Petroleum Engineers
3111: Specialist Physicians
3112: General Practitioners and Family Physicians
3141: Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists

NOTE: the occupations above are all Skill Type 0 (managerial occupations) or Skill Level A (professional occupations) or B (technical occupations and skilled trades) on the Canadian National Occupational Classification list.

Federal skilled worker applicants who meet the above criteria will be processed within 6-12 months.

The basic requirements of Skilled worker category immigration applicant needs to have :

· Education- Bachelors Degree

· Work Experience- If single/unmarried four years. If married two years of work experience will qualify. In both cases high language skills will require. ONE YEAR Work experience must in 38 occupations in last 10 years. Other work experience can be of any activity.

· Age – Between 21-49 years. Before 21 and after 49 can still apply but in that case they will NOT get any points for age and will need high language.

· Adaptability:
- Spouse education: If Spouse Bachelor will be better. This will help to lessen the points for language
- Relatives in Canada: Details about clients relative in Canada. Who they are and where do they live.

· Language Skills: Please confirm if they have any IELTS results before or how is their language skills (English or French). If they have French language they would have broader prospect with Quebec immigration as well. Requirement of language skills will depend on applicant’s background of education, work experience, spouse education, relatives in Canada etc. and it will be case to case basis.
